Supporting Those Who Grieve
Losing a loved one can be difficult. Here are some ways to turn your care and concern into meaningful action.
- Listen with your heart. Don't worry about finding the right words. Your presence is enough.
- Be compassionate. Offer a hug.
- Offer to help with everyday needs, such as household tasks, preparing a mea,l or providing transportation.
- Stay in touch by making a phone call, writing a note, sending flowers, or giving a small gift.
- Make a donation to a favorite charity in memory of a loved one.
- Be aware of difficult days like holidays and anniversaries.
- Be available for your friend's children.
- Learn about the grieving process.
- Offer to attend grief support groups or memorial services with them.
