 Philip Van Every LRC

Our Education Resource For Staff and Community

The Philip L. Van Every Learning Resource Center opened in October 2015.  Located on Walsh Boulevard in south Charlotte, it will offer a space for specialized training for clinical staff and will also have the capacity to host educational events for the community at large.  The resource center features a training simulation lab that provides HPCCR staff access to a hospital bed, lift, infusion therapy pumps, artificial nutrition delivery systems, and more.  The building also boasts multiple conference rooms with state-of-the-art teleconferencing capabilities designed to accommodate end-of-life presentations and educational offerings to the community.

The History

LRC classroomThe building was once a branch of the Charlotte Public Library, operating from 1983 until 2010.  It sat empty and unused until it was purchased by Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region in 2012.  It is around the corner from our south Charlotte office on Little Avenue.

The Philip L. Van Every Foundation graciously agreed to donate the necessary funds to renovate the building to its current state.  An important leader in the Charlotte community, Philip Van Every was known for his philanthropic nature.  Among other causes, he was devoted to education, healthcare, and community service.  The HPCCR facility bearing his name strives to encompass all three of these passions, making healthcare education easily accessible to anyone with the desire to learn.
