Two easy ways to begin a patient referral.

Hospice is comfort-oriented care focused on quality of life for patients with a diagnosis of months, weeks, or days to live.  We will bring our care to you, whether in the home, assisted living community, long term care community, or hospital.

what is hospice?

Hospice is much more than medical care. . .

Hospice is much more than just care at the end of life.  It is a beneficial and crucial solution for individuals and their families who are facing the complexities of a serious illness.  Patients with a short life expectancy need more than just the right medications.  They also need emotional and spiritual care to address fears and anxiety.  They need education to know what to expect and to plan for the future.  And they need the physical support that can only be provided by hospice professionals.  Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region offers a full scope of services for patients and their loved ones.

when is the right time for hospice?

It is never easy to know when the time is right for hospice. . .

It is a uniquely personal decision for each individual and their family.

Hospice care could benefit anyone who has:

  • A terminal illness with a prognosis of months, weeks, or days rather than years

  • Chosen comfort care rather than treatment focused on a cure

  • Had multiple hospital stays in the past six months

  • Experienced decreased appetite or significant weight loss

where is hospice care provided?

Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region will care for you:

  • In your home

  • In assisted living centers

  • In long-term care communities

  • In local hospitals

  • At Levine & Dickson Hospice House - Huntersville

  • At Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate

  • At Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster

how is hospice paid for?

Hospice care is available to all, the ability to pay will never be a barrier. . .

Hospice is an inclusive Medicare Part A benefit, meaning that all services related to terminal illness are covered up to 100%. Hospice care is also covered by Medicaid and most employer-provided healthcare plans. However, at Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, ability to pay will not be a barrier to receiving needed care.  Thanks to generous community support, and our non-profit mission, our services are available to anyone in our community who needs us.

For individuals enrolled in Medicare, hospice is a benefit that they are entitled to have. The Hospice Medicare Benefit completely covers the cost of all hospice services, medical equipment, supplies, and medications related to the hospice diagnosis as long as these items are included in the hospice plan of care.
