HPCCR Achieves Level Five We Honor Veterans status

(Charlotte, North Carolina) –

Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region has proudly earned Level 5 status from The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s We Honor Veterans (WHV) program – the highest attainable level in this program that requires a great deal of dedication to provide Veterans with compassionate care that is specific to their needs and goals.

Earning Level 5 status ensures that partners place a greater emphasis on staff education and caring for Vietnam-era and combat Veterans.

NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs launched We Honor Veterans in 2010 to address the growing need for Veteran-centered care, especially as Veterans are aging and need access to palliative and hospice care.

As a WHV partner, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region addresses the unique health care needs of Veterans, both physical and emotional, including the psychological toll of war and how it impacts their end-of-life journey. Veteran patients are paired with staff and volunteers who have also served our country and share a unique and honorable bond. Throughout the year, we team up with The Veterans Heart Group to recognize the military service of Veterans with special pinning ceremonies and awards.
